The Cruiser Studio was born from a genuine passion for one of the most iconic vehicles ever built — the Toyota Land Cruiser.

The journey began when the founder purchased his first Land Cruiser 79 Series Double Cab 4.5 V8 Diesel after acquiring a farm. The pickup he owned at the time simply wasn’t built for the demanding life of a working farm vehicle.

The Land Cruiser, however, proved to be something entirely different.

It wasn’t just a bakkie — it was a machine built for purpose.

The raw power of the V8 engine combined with the vehicle’s legendary simplicity created an authentic driving experience that immediately stood out. What truly sparked the passion, however, was discovering how incredibly customizable the platform was. The Land Cruiser could be transformed into almost anything its owner envisioned.

That first build quickly became an obsession.

Not long after, a second Land Cruiser followed — this time built with a different purpose in mind. While still rugged and capable, this build leaned more toward comfort and everyday usability, creating something that could serve as a capable daily driver while still remaining true to the Cruiser DNA.

Then came the overlanding chapter.

When the opportunity arose to acquire a Land Cruiser 78 Series — the legendary “Troopy”, the project took a new direction. This build was focused purely on long-distance exploration and adventure. During this process, a close relationship developed with one of the leading manufacturers of Land Cruiser components. Through many conversations it became clear there was an opportunity to create something unique. The manufacturer wanted to focus more on production and less on installations — and that is when The Cruiser Studio was born.

From the beginning it was clear that this would not be just another 4x4 fitment centre.

With hundreds of fitment shops already in the market, The Cruiser Studio set out to do something different. The vision was to create a specialised studio environment focused on craftsmanship, design, and purpose-built vehicles rather than simply installing accessories.
